Some companies enjoy a sudden burst of sales. But when things slow down, they realize they should have invested more in selling.

Spend money on getting new customers while things are going well. And make sure you keep the customers you already have. Marketing and sales are key here. Outsourcing could be a viable solution as it scales better than recruiting.
